Jeff Hopwood

Jeff started competing year-around at the age of 7, when he joined the world-renowned Santa Clara Swim Club, the same club where Mark Spitz trained before capturing 7 gold medals at the 1972 Olympics. Jeff later moved onto the smaller Palo Alto Swim Club, led by coach Tony Batis, which has since grown into Northern California power-house Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics and which was recently awarded a prestigious 'Gold Medal Club' by USA Swimming. After 10 years of age group competition, Jeff earned a swimming scholarship to the University of Michigan, where he was an All-American breaststroke under coaching legend, Jon Urbanchek. Jeff finished 6th in the 200 Breaststroke at the 2000 US Olympic Trials, narrowly missing the Olympic team by four spots.
